New Starter Information from our EYFS Team
Hello,
We are so pleased that you have chosen our school for this exciting educational journey and that your child will be joining us from Thursday 28th August 2025. The EYFS class teachers are called Mrs Pearman and Mr Parkins. We know that this is a very exciting time for children and parents alike and we very much look forward to meeting you all.
This year’s transition model will consist of:
Open Evening –Tuesday 17th June 2025. 3.30-4pm
You are invited to an open evening, specifically tailored for the parents of EYFS children starting at the beginning of the 2025/26 academic year.
Here you will get a chance to find out what school life is like in EYFS at Cobden including:
- Chance to look around the EYFS classroom and outdoor area.
- Meet staff at Cobden.
- Learn about the play-based learning approach.
- Identify way of how you can support your child with their learning at home.
- Ideas and support to ensure your child is school ready.
- Ask any questions you may have…and much more!
Whether you have children already at the school or you are new to the Cobden family, we’d love you to join us!
Home Visits –3rd/4th July afternoons- If your child is not in a preschool/nursery setting, over these two afternoons in June, Mrs Pearman and Mr Parkins, with other staff members, will be conducting home visits to meet both the children and parents in their home environment. This is a very informal meeting which is designed to give families the chance to chat in the comfort of their own home. This is to find out more about your child before starting school and getting to know them a little better to aid with transition.
Main feeder pre-school visits – To be confirmed.
Mrs Pearman and Mr Parkins, will be visiting the Main feeder pre- schools to meet the children in their educational environment and liaise with their key workers.
Stay and Play – Thursday 3rd July 2025 9.30-11.30am
Cobden reception classes will be holding a ‘stay and play’ event.
Stay and play gives you and your child the opportunity to:
- Explore the classroom
- Meet the teachers
- Get to know other children and their families
- Take part in playful activities in class with your child
This is a lovely opportunity to help your child feel settled and excited about starting school!
On Friday 4th July 2025-9.30 -11.30am children are invited to be spend time in school without parents.
First Day at School – Thursday 28th August 2025 – the children will start school, 8.45 till 11.30. Please arrive at 8.35 ready for a prompt start to the school day
Second Day at School- Friday 29th August 2025– the children will start school at 8.45 and stay for their first lunch in the hall till 1pm. Please arrive at 8.35 ready for a prompt start to the school day

Uniform
Please make sure that everything your child brings to school is labelled/has their name on it.
Your child will also need a named water bottle in school everyday.
