EYFS New Starters

We can’t wait to welcome our new children for September 2027 into school!

New Starter Information from our EYFS Team

Hello,

We are so pleased that you have chosen our school for this exciting educational journey and that your child will be joining us from August 2027 . The EYFS class teachers are Mrs Pearman and Mr Parkins. We know that this is a very exciting time for children and parents alike and we very much look forward to meeting you all.

This year’s transition model will consist of:

Open Evenings 
You are invited to an open evening, specifically tailored for the parents of new EYFS starting at the beginning of the 2027/28 academic year.

Wednesday 23rd September 2026 – 3.45 – 4.30 explore our EYFS base, meet the teachers and stay and play.

Wednesday 4th November 4pm – 4.45.  Another opportunity to meet the teachers and join us for a camp fire story and s’mores.

Here you will get a chance to find out what school life is like in EYFS at Cobden including:

• Chance to look around the EYFS classroom and outdoor area.
• Meet staff at Cobden.
• Learn about the play-based learning approach.
• Identify way of how you can support your child with their learning at home.
• Ideas and support to ensure your child is school ready.
• Ask any questions you may have…and much more!

Whether you have children already at the school or you are new to the Cobden family, we’d love you to join us!

Information Evening for New Starters – 29th June 2027 3.45pm – 4.30pm

Parents are invited to come to find out about uniform, routines, expectations, lunchtimes, afterschool and breakfast clubs, extra curricular opportunities and time to complete paperwork and speak to the staff.

The children are invited to attend and will be looked after in the EYFS classrooms by our staff

1:1 Parent Meetings – 5th July 2027 appointments throughout the day

At the information evening you will be asked to sign up for a meeting time to meet with Mrs Pearman or Mr Parkins.  This is an opportunity to share your child’s successes and any concerns you might have about transition to EYFS.

Feeder pre-school visits and calls

Mrs Pearman and Mr Parkins, will be visiting the main feeder pre-schools to meet the children in their educational environment and liaise with their key workers.  Where pre-schools are further away we will ensure we liaise through video and telephones calls.

Stay and Play – to meet the teachers 1st July 2027 4pm – 4.30pm
All our new starters are invited to a stay and play session on

Stay and play gives you and your child the opportunity to:

• Explore the classroom
• Meet the teachers
• Get to know other children and their families
• Take part in playful activities in class with your child

This is a lovely opportunity to help your child feel settled and excited about starting school!
